At least one student in Somerset was been hospitalized after ingesting seeds at a party, Fox 25 reported.
The plant seeds, Sleepy Grass, Hawaiian Baby Woodrose, and Blue Morning Glory, contain d-lysergic acid amide (LSA), which closely resembles LSD. When ingested, LSA can cause auditory and visual hallucinations and side effects include nausea and vomiting.
While the behavior is trending now, it has been happening since 2009, Fox 25 reported. Some students have been eating the seeds on school grounds.
“If your child’s not into gardening and flowers and you see these flower seeds, it should be a tipoff you might want to look into that,” Seekonk Police Capt. Frank John told Fox 25.
