Despite its name, vitamin B17 does not fall under the category of vitamins. It has many different names, but we shall be referring to it as ‘amygdalin’ or ‘laetrile’.
The latter comes from Latin, laevarotatory, for the stereochemistry of the molecule, and mandelonitrile for the chemical identity.
Laetrile has three main components: benzaldehyde, glucose and hydrogen cyanide. And while cyanide sounds scary for most if not all, we should explain that the kernels of apricots contain only tiny amounts of it.
So tiny, in fact, that one would need to swallow a minimum of 65 kernels in one day for there to be any side effects to one’s health.
Cyanide is dangerous indeed, but only in large amounts. It is completely safe when used with other compounds in tiny amounts.
The Connection Between Cancer and Vitamin B17
Some doctors who choose alternative methods for treating the cancer in their patients, have chosen to use laetrile. And yet, the FDA bans any vitamin B17 use.
So technically, doctors are not allowed to prescribe any laetrile to their patients.
Back in the 1970s, Sloan Kettering, the leading cancer research center at the time. Dr. Kanematsu Sugiura had discovered that laetrile inhibits the malignant lung tumor growth in lab mice.
But since Sloan Kettering’s board of directors feared that this discovery might cause a shrinkage of profits, they refused to support the finding. Non-patented treatments can’t bring any money.
The media didn’t help any matters since it published a story about just how dangerous apple seed and apricot kernel cyanide is.
But, as we said, its content is way too low from such sources, and it has been found that it can kill cancer cells.
Cancer Treatment and Laetrile
Unlike cancer cells, healthy cells contain an enzyme called rhodanese. This enzyme has the ability to neutralize both the hydrogen cyanide and the benzaldehyde, transforming them into helpful components instead!
Moreover, laetrile is helpful for aiding your body in the synthesizing of B12 – a vitamin which many Americans are sadly deficient in.
When you combine it with a high dose of vitamin C, the nutrients synergize and are more powerful combined!
Many nutritionists will suggest a plant-based diet for getting all the minerals and vitamins you need. In order for laetrile to work its magic, its needs the aid of many different nutrients.
If you find yourself lacking those, you can always opt for multivitamin supplements.
Therapy using laetrile
Even though it is useful, laetrile by itself is not enough to treat cancer. It certainly deserves more attention because it can do miracles in the right doses.
You can find it not only in apricot kernels, but also in the seeds of apples, plums, cherries, peaches, avocados, pears, nectarines, bitter almonds, quinces, macadamia nuts and more.
Apricot kernels are at the top of the list due to the fact that they have the highest vitamin B17 content.
Experts say that ideally, you should eat 24-40 kernels each day. As for those in remission, at least 16 kernels. Some choose to take one kernel for each 10 pounds of individual body weight, and gradually increase the amount of kernels daily.
The best way to start is to take one kernel and wait about an hour. If there are no changes or side effects, continue.
But be careful not to consume your kernels too fast, as that may have damaging results. A little ‘trial and error’ is required to see what works best for you personally.
We’d now like to tell you a few stories of those who have used kernel seeds for treating their condition.
Uterus and Lymph Node Removal – No Surgery Needed
At least this according to someone who refused surgery for her invasive cervical cancer removal.
She opted for apricot kernel seeds instead and now, at the age of 40, getting a pap smear with a clear result after ten months of ingesting kernels, she is planning for another kid.
Possible Cure for a Rare Lymph Node Cancer?
Well, that is what this one individual claims. He said he grounded 10 kernel seeds a day and added them to his smoothie.
He did this for two weeks and was flabbergasted to find the large lymph nodes had disappeared. Still, this does not mean that the same will happen to everyone and further research is needed.
For Staying Healthy in General
Even if you do not have any serious health issues at the moment, consuming apricot kernels (in proper amounts) can only do you good.
Those who have grown up eating these on a regular basis can only attest to their usefulness. They also claim that they ate about 20 kernels a day and never got sick from it.
However, they strongly suggest not taking any more than 5 kernels at once, and it is always best to work your way up slowly. Stay healthy, dear readers!
